Patrick Kearns

Hi all! My name is Patrick and I'm an Emerson alum, but still an active Developed Images fan and contributor. I've been taking photos for as long as I could hold a camera, but my education at Emerson really allowed me to experiment with styles and mediums. After being introduced to film photography, it became one of my favorite passions.

I was working on my senior photography project when the pandemic hit. Being stuck inside was not conducive to traditional photography, but it was the catalyst that led me to another passion of mine: virtual photography! I starting documenting virtual spaces in order to escape the monotony of quarantine. This type of content creation isn't so much photography as much as it is "image-making." Still, my final photo project at Emerson was comprised of images that were completely generated in a digital space.

Now, I work as a Branch Photographer for the YMCA of Greater Boston, and do freelance photography work whenever I can. You can follow my main Instagram: @patrick.d.k, and my virtual photography account: @synthetic.lens

Thanks again to DI for featuring my work and continuing to create incredible art year-after-year. Cheers!

I am a senior Journalism major with minors in Environmental Studies and Narrative Nonfiction. I've always enjoyed nature and being in nature, so a lot of my photography revolves around capturing the beauty of nature. I fell in love with photography because it allows me to stop time and almost keep the essence of a memory or a person forever.
